Teaching
I teach research-led courses: each is built around a live empirical problem and around data students can work with directly rather than read about. My own research is mixed-methods, and my teaching follows that — students learn both to design a survey instrument and to sit with an interview transcript, and to see why the two answer different questions. I teach in English and Russian.
Courses I am prepared to teach
Political Behaviour under Authoritarianism and Democratic Backsliding
GraduateWhy do people take part in politics when it is costly, and why do they stop? The course works through protest, voting, digital activism, and everyday compliance under authoritarian and backsliding regimes. Its central argument is that repression rarely reduces participation as such — it changes which forms of participation remain available. Students read recent empirical work and design a small study of their own.
Gender, Migration, and Transnational Activism
Advanced undergraduate / graduateWho does political work in a diaspora, and who gets counted for it? The course covers forced migration, diaspora politics, feminist movements in exile, and transnational repression, and asks why standard measures of participation miss much of what women actually do.
Survey Research and Panel Data Analysis
Graduate · methodsA practical course in designing and analysing surveys, with an emphasis on populations that are hard to reach and have good reason not to trust researchers. It covers sampling without a sampling frame, recruitment through closed networks, questionnaire construction, measuring sensitive behaviour, panel attrition, and weighting. Students work with real anonymised panel data and produce a reproducible analysis in R.

Supervision
I welcome supervision requests on political participation and political behaviour, migration and diaspora politics, gender and politics, social movements, authoritarian politics, and mixed-methods or survey-based research designs. I am happy to supervise students who want to work with panel or interview data of their own.
